Hey there! My name is Jesse and I’m an RYT 200 Hour Instructor.

“Wait. You teach yoga?!”

I get that question a lot more often than you might think. As a 6’7”, 280 pound man, I get it. I don’t fit the mold of what you might think a yoga instructor should look like. I’m not a super fit hardbody gym rat or a Lululemon-clad human pretzel.

The first time I taught a yoga lesson was in 2001, during my Senior Spanish final where I had to instruct the class in something, and the directions were easy to memorize. Fast forward a couple of years I bought a beginner’s DVD that I used regularly for years with the accompanying way-too-small for me mat.

It wasn’t until 2016 that I started practicing yoga daily. I was extremely overweight, depressed, struggling with alcoholism, and spiraling towards my rock bottom. Yoga enabled me to focus on something outside of myself, helping me to quiet my anxiety and work on finding my inner voice.

I was hooked, again! Yoga became a daily practice for me, which it still is to this day. I attended yoga teacher training to improve my own practice and decided after nearly 20 years of practicing, it was my time to give back to the yoga community.

I’m certified to teach Hatha & Vinyasa yoga and I specialize in modifications for those of us who might struggle with certain poses (notice I said us 😊). I believe breathing as well as mindfulness play an important part in a well-rounded yoga practice, so I strive to include them both in my teachings.

I look forward to working with you and can’t wait to see you on the mat!
